In a few bits of news...

Our split 7" with Burdens is coming out before the end of the year on Get This Right Records (Link)! "I Just Want To Go Home Tonight" is up on our MySpace right now and "Awaiting Vultures" is up on the Burdens MySpace page from their half (Link). Preorders will be posted soon!

This upcoming weekend there are three dates with us and Rock Bottom (Link) that are all going to be awesome. If you're in the north east, check it out!

Tour Recap/Cut Short news

-Tour was cool. Could've been better, could've been a lot worse. Thanks to all the promoters who set shit up, anyone who helped us out/hung out with us, and anyone that checked us out.
-Planning on hitting the South this winter. Two weeks. No more info/anything as of now.
-Recording this week for the split with Burdens. Don't know who is putting it out or when, but we'll have at least one song up soon.

There are a ton of new bands popping up (Dinocrisis[they are chaning their name, thank god], Humanity, Doubledealer, I think Sharpshooter may end up doing stuff again, Full of Hell), so check them all out. There are at least two Cut Short side projects happening soon, so stay tuned for those.

To clear something up in the liner notes, we thanked Max Davis for 'being our spiritual advisor.' This was strictly sarcastic, and we are pretty much a band of heathens. No Jesus No Beast (Immolation, get into it).

We need shows. NJ, DE, MD, NY, VA. Week long mini-tour in JUNE/JULY with Burdens. Split later this year with them. We'll be finishing up the drums and guitar on both tracks in the next few weeks. Hoping to start playing them around early june, record them that month, and have the split on vinyl in time for a Halloween release... the Halloween release was my dorky idea that I haven't cleared with anyone else. Slayer cover rip maybe? Jared from Burdens would be into that.

Now for my portion of this thing.

We're scrambling to get everything ready for the record release. Hopefully we'll be playing with our new guitarist, but depending on how many practices we manage to get in between now and then, we may or may not. Definitely by the 15th.

Since I'm out of a job right now, I've had nothing but time on my hands. Finally refinished my guitar cab, and even wrote three new songs... Only one has Tyler's seal of approval (aka, drums written) so far, but we hope to be playing a few new ones come sometime in May. At least two of these tracks will end up on our split due out this fall (hopefully some sort of nerdy Halloween release?).

I don't have much else to say, except "see all of you on April 10th/15th." We've got a special cover for each of those shows, so make it out to both. I severely doubt you'll ever see them more than once.

March has been a quiet month for us, for the most part. We should be officially adding our 2nd guitarist Jeff (you probably know him as Buff, don't take that too seriously, nice dude, not buff at all) before the record release... He's been working on getting our material down, but unfortunately we recently lost our practice spot. We're struggling to practice anywhere that we can.

We were hoping to have our record before the release, but seeing as its almost two weeks away and we still don't have our test presses, we've lost hope of it. We'll be selling the CDR version of it to anyone who wants it, and we'll get you a copy of the record as soon as it comes in... Its kind of depressing, and feels like the fates are against us, but what else can we do?

After seeing the Sound and Fury lineup (or only half of it) announced, we're talking about touring out for it. Shows out, shows there, shows back. Enjoying S&F in the midst of that. We'll see.

I'm currently working out THREE new songs, however I seriously doubt they'll see the lights of day before June or July. No point in playing new songs that won't be recorded till later this year when we're just now releasing material we've been playing for months.

Hopefully some big things and big announcements soon.

Its February, and damn is it cold. Month and a half till our record release. Hopefully the weather will be nicer by then.

We've got some cool stuff planned for the record release (two cover songs, the entire EP, and a song from the demo), and even an after party for those lucky enough to RSVP... Word on the street is that a cover set will be happening at said party... Something about an old punk band and black bars as logos? Whatever the hell that means.

I've got a new song in the works. Hopefully that will get finished and ready for everyone's ears sometime after the record release.

p.s, big news coming soon. All I can say is "Festival," "Ohio," and "Ringworm."

January recap/February outlook

January started out with a bang. We played our best show to date in Forked River, NJ at the LFM Garage. Wall to wall moshing, sing alongs, everyone having fun. Best night I've had in a long time. We also played Unfolding for AJ... never to be played again...

After more lollygagging by Taylor, he got everything done. And it sounds great. We just got the volume-adjusted version, and its being sent out to press as I type this...

On the 18th we played Doylestown with Mother of Mercy. Sloppy show on my part, and apparently I wasn't turned up loud enough. Oh well, live and learn. Ear plugs are a must from now on... Thanks to Joe Kane for passing our name along up there, and Bob from LET DOWN/MoM for booking us on the show. Expect to see random Cut Short/Mother of Mercy shows in the future.

Today we played the Grange to an extremely "un-Cut Short" type of crowd. Didn't go over nearly as bad as I thought it would. Kids seem to have enjoyed us, or at least didn't hate us. Garrett made himself bleed on stage. Rad.

We'll be announcing EP info and the record release ASAP. We've got another show @ LFM Garage on the 13th, hopefully something between that and the next show on March 7th @ Limestone Church, and then UD with Golden Age/Take Control/Kingfish/Crucial Dudes.

December recap...

So December has been a busier month for all of us, between school, work, and the band. I figured I'd update this finally.

The December 6th show with Ruiner went pretty well. Garrett made himself bleed, I almost puked, and Tyler threw his snare. Apparently someone had their nose broken, and some broad got knocked flat on her ass, and spilled her coffee all over her jacket. We sold all of our tapes that we made. Pretty cool.

The show on the 13th was a bust. Its real shitty when kids refused to pay attention to your band just because they haven't heard you before.

Finished the EP on the 27th of this month. It'll be out on VINYL in a few months.

Big things ahead. Stay tuned.

Studio Recap/the Aftermath...

So recording went really well. We're happy with the finished product, and plan on going back to finish up two songs that we haven't played live, and a tweaked version of Adrift. Should be another two days in the studio.

All three songs we've recorded thus far are on our myspace, and two of them are available on the "Cast Out" cassette that we've started duplicating ourselves. Selling them for $2 each, or $5 shipped anywhere in the US.

Here are some hijinks from the studio. I didn't run around snapping too many pictures, but here are a few.

We are currently sitting at Paul Levitt's studio as I type this (he's recorded All Time Low, and some other poppy bands). We're recording with Taylor though, who knows a little more about recording hardcore bands.

We're doing three songs for our EP. Not sure what the final tracklist will be at the moment, but expect it within a month (hopefully).

We've got a bunch of new shows up on our page. I don't really feel like typing them all out, but we're playing with What Life Is from California in a garage. Its going to be absolutely retarded. We also play with Ruiner in 7 days. Anticipating a good turnout/reaction then. Also a possible house show on December 19th/20th.

A lot more to tell everyone that I don't even feel like typing out at the moment. Pictures to follow in tomorrow's post.

News, and Shai Hulud recap.

Stayed out way too late after the show to remember to update this, so here we are, almost a week shit-late-and-wrong...

Shai Hulud show went great. We were all extremely fucking nervous though. We played a decent set. 3 things went wrong though: I dropped a pick in the beginning of the first song (not too big of a deal), Ed's bass strap gave out and his bass almost shit the bed (he caught it just in time, thankfully), and Garrett was too low in the PA, and a little beat by the end of the set. We were all super tired despite not doing shit the night before, and sleeping in late. We're fucking lazy, get over it.

After the set, we got compliments from 3 members of Shai Hulud, and a few other random compliments from other bands. Dead and Buried killed it. My Turn to Win killed it. Shai Hulud was good, even though they played to a damn near empty room. Thanks to Harry and Lisa for putting us on the show. I don't know who to blame for the poor turnout, so I won't even bother opening my mouth about it. It was a great show, and would've been great if the turnout had've been half as much.

Couple announcements:

-We're playing DECEMBER 6TH @ Perkins Student Center, University of Delaware. The show is with RUINER, BRAINDEAD, and LIGHTEN UP. Sick. It's in Newark, and will cost $3-5.

-We're doing a vinyl split sometime in the next few months with a band called STAY TRUE. Check 'em out. I have no more info on this yet. Songs haven't even been written for this.

-Cassette split with Sharpshooter sometime in 2009. Our songs are being written as I type this... No more info, cause Sharpshooter is a weekend band at this point.

-We are recording sometime this month, as well as in December. No information on what songs will be on what release, just expect to hear new stuff soon and in December.

Time to go take a test.

We are recording two or three tracks for our EP due out in late DECEMBER/early JANUARY.

Recording will take place with Cody Prang in late October. Tracks will be up on our myspace in early November at the latest. The last two tracks will be recorded in December. We'll keep everyone updated.

So after our show, we seem to have disappeared a little... Our September 20th house show was canceled. I don't remember the exact reason, all I know is that it'll be happening on either Halloween or November 1st (even though Decrepit Birth is playing Philly that night; so is Bane/H20/Energy/My Turn To Win... GO TO BOTH SHOWS!).

We're not dead. We are very much alive, just having logistical problems with practice. 4 practices canceled since the show, and I'm not happy about it at all. But what can you do? Pointing the finger and complaining do nothing. Regroup, move on.

Ed is looking at bass equipment, but the restaurant he was working at just closed. Bummer. I just bought a new guitar after finally selling an old bass. Its nice.

As for what we plan on doing in the next few months, I can say this: We're going to be writing sporadically for two splits; one with Crucial Dudes, and the other with Sharpshooter. Both good friends of ours, I'll post links at the bottom of this. I've already started arranging a new song (its really good), and we'll be using an old song we never finished writing as a shorter song. So, 3 more songs to go.

Hopefully you'll be hearing at least one new track from us shortly. We plan on recording two songs NOT on the demo shortly, so people can get a better idea of what we sound like. As far as Tyler and I are concerned, we'll be re-recording the demo + these two new songs and releasing that as a self titled EP this winter.

The split with Sharpshooter will be a CASSETTE SPLIT (yes, you read that right). Neither band has all the material recorded, mush less written, but expect this to mosh into your face in early '09.

I don't have much else to say right now, other than please help us get shows, and keep spreading the word.

First show/First Post

Decided to keep a blog going for the band. Don't care if anyone reads it.

Today was our first show. Stressful as fuck.

Ed had no bass amp, Tyler had a wedding (and is probably getting shit for playing the show as I type this), Garrett was having trouble writing lyrics, and my wrists were locking up. Oh well. Ed found equipment, Tyler left the wedding reception, Garrett sung the lyrics to himself at work, and I sucked it up and quit my bitching.

Got there, loaded up, set up our stuff as everyone came in. Tyler and I played "It Rained Today Inside My Head" during soundcheck. Pretty funny to everyone in the band. Started the intro, had to stop because Tyler's bass drum pedal busted. After he fixed that, we got underway. Intro went well, first song went well, second song was going great... Till my 5th string snapped. I pretty much flipped a shit and almost threw my guitar, went to grab a pack of strings. Dude from Dead and Buried came up on stage and handed me his guitar... Major thanks to him for that. After a lengthy tune up, we got back into the set. Played two new songs in a row, finished with Adrift.

Personally I think the set went like shit, but everyone kept saying that it was great minus the string break. Then again, I hate everything I do. Sucks being cynical and overly self conscious.
